EXTRACORPOREAL SHOCK WAVE THERAPY (ESWT)

Therapeutic Ultrasound Therapy - Pain Clinic @ Wellness Philosophy

Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) was first introduced in 1980s for medical procedures to pulverize (segmenting) kidney stones, gall bladder stones and breaking of physical hardened soft objects.

There are 3 different shockwave generation; electrohydraulic, electromagnetic and piezoelectric principles.

ESWT in orthopaedics & physical therapy employed electrohydraulic shockwaves, it is a powerful high-energy acoustic waves generated high voltage electrode to disintegrate soft tissues, as well as to induce tissue repair and bone regeneration.

The intervention of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) in treating various musculoskeletal disorders has been widely used for past decades.  Primarily used in the sports related injuries,  tendinopathies such as plantar fasciitis of the heel, lateral medial epicondylitis(tennis & golfer elbow), Ulna Collateral Ligament(UCL) calcific tendonitis of the shoulder and patellar tendinopathy, runner’s knee,  etc.

The prognosis is in the range of 85% to 95% successful rate without any side effect, down time or complication.

It is one of the safest fast effective intervention on any orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions, in replacing any invasive intervention of surgery, needles or pain killers.

Pain-clinic team of clinicians has helped countless number of patients recovered from their work related posture physical pain, sports injuries, accidents, degenerative disorders neuropathies and tendinopathies conditions in our ESWT programmes.  Our treatment includes:
